BE SURE TO READ THE 2:00 UPDATE BELOW!!!
The townhome complex we are living in is getting a makeover. They’re trimming trees, doing other landscaping and, most recently, repainting all of the buildings. However, before they paint, they are doing a high pressure wash on the outside of each building.
We noticed a guy several buildings down holding a high pressure nozzle gizmo last week. Man, those things are LOUD! We figured it would be a few weeks before they got around to blasting our building. We were wrong.
I worked until after midnight (not unusual for me) on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, I was startled awake by a man’s voice, which sounded very, very close. As I tried to open my blurry eyes, I heard him again. “It’s open!”
Huh?
He repeated it a third time, yelling to someone else, “It’s OPEN!”
It only took a nanosecond for me to realize there was a guy standing ON THE ROOF outside of the bedroom window, holding a high pressure water nozzle. Gah!!!
I jumped up, not caring that I was still in my jammies, yanked on the cord for the blinds, and quickly shut the window. He laughed really loud, and thanked me. I thanked him for not spraying me right out of bed.
Needless to say, I didn’t need any coffee that morning.
Last night, I had insomnia. Got 2 1/2 hours of sleep before I had to get up and run a kiddo to a class. Came back home, and tried to go back to sleep. Received an urgent phone call about a family member getting into an accident on the freeway. No injuries, thank God. Tried to go back to sleep again. Then, someone knocked on the door asking us to move our vehicles so they can start painting the building. And, that’s when I gave up on getting any more sleep today.
UPDATE: 2:00 p.m.
I ran two of our kiddos to two more locations, and promised myself I would come home and take a nap. However, then Ali called. They were getting a pretty intense storm and their 3-year-old son was crying. I was Facetiming with them when what we believe was a small tornado touched down in their backyard and they got it on video! The clouds, rain, and then hail were intense and then, BAM! A local news network is currently trying to get permission to air it. You can find it on my Facebook page. It is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! No damage except for a shattered glass that had been sitting next to the phone that was set to time lapse record the storm.
It’s pretty clear to me now that God does NOT want me to have a nap today. I’m just going to sit here and see what happens next…

At this moment, thousands of would-be authors are slaving away on their keyboards, dreaming of literary success. But their efforts won’t count for much. Of all those manuscripts, trade book editors will sign up only a slim fraction.
And of those titles--ones that that editors paid thousands of dollars to contract, print and publicize--an unhealthy percentage never sell enough copies to earn back their advances. Two years later, most will be out of print!

I’m so glad Ali is okay. I as a trucker had gone literally through 2 1/2 tornadoes the other day here in Alabama. It was pretty intense. Didn’t know till later that people had died in them. The 1/2 one was when I drove through the after math of a third one. Odd thing was when I was going through the second one it had actually shorted out my phone
Yikes, that was one ominous sky. Thank goodness there was no damage.
Hi Ang,
Lotsa short sleep nights here during the winter. No walk, no sleep — not to mention the beer belly even though I never touch that stuff.
They are supposed to send a notice or stick it in your mail slot/box and warn you they will be hosing things on such and such a date and to please close your wall holes.
Tornadoes are horrid no matter what size they are. Glad your family wasn’t hurt.
Make room for a Reading Nap (you know, pick up a book and wake up with it still in your hands at the same place you started reading).
Cheers,
Linda G
