I Overcame My Fear Of Being Scammed Online And Now I’m A Successful Freelance Writer! By Kathy Coman

When I first decided to go on the path of freelance writing, I have to admit that I had my doubts. I mean, there are hundreds of sites out there that post different jobs and opportunities for the freelance writer but it’s the Internet right? I assumed, of course, that not all of these jobs would be real. At least a certain percentage of them had to be scams because that’s just the world we live in. So, I hesitated for a few months because that was a risk I just didn’t want to take.

Then, I made the decision to stop living in the fear of being scammed. If I hadn’t found my courage, I wouldn’t be in the position I am in now. I started freelance writing in 2014, with jobs that started from a job-bidding site. These jobs included scriptwriting, copywriting, and articles, and offered me the opportunity to experience my passion of writing on a different level.

The opportunities from that site allowed me to build my resume and portfolio. I then took the next steps to start researching more sites and jobs through Google and Indeed. After finding jobs that I liked that either matched my portfolio or would help build upon it, I applied in hopes that I would get a call or an email.

Now, it’s 2016 and I have had the opportunity to work with different companies from across the world. Some of those companies are even repeat customers, who contact me directly to do some work for them.

So if you are considering taking the leap into freelance writing, find your courage, and go for it. The Internet has a world of writing opportunities that just gets greater with each passing day.

And, you can avoid red flags in job offerings by reading THIS.

Is This Guy About to Scam Me?!

The Art and Craft of Writing and Editing

Writing is a constant dialogue between author and reader.

The craft of writing involves an interchange of emotions between an author and a reader. An author creates a story line, conflict, and characters, gives his characters words to speak, and then hands off these materials to a reader. This process results in a constant dialogue between the mental imagery produced by a reader and that proposed by the author.
