HINTS: "1) Writers need to read Rural Missouri to see the style/tone we like stories to be in. Submissions to Sparkle are selected based on the following criteria: 1. The manuscript must fit with the SparkleMission; 2. The application of Scripture to everyday life; 3. The ability to engage culture˝meaning it must be relevant today while still maintaining and upholding the truth of Scripture; 4. The ability to delight the reader; 5. The ability to cause the reader to evaluate her own life in light of the Truth presented; 6. The ability to teach a practical life skill. Each season, Sparkle dedicates its pages to the exploration of an Annual Theme. (See website for more details.) Compensation for all pieces that are published in Sparkle is made upon publication. CURRENT NEEDS: "Stories should be well written speculative fiction. Any well written family-friendly science fiction, fantasy, or horror stories are considered. Do not confuse family-friendly with children's literature. Stories should be written for adults. A flat fee of $50 is paid after acceptance and signing of the author's agreement. All payments are through PayPal. There is no set minimum or maximum length for stories. Stories accepted so far include lengths of a few hundred words to a few thousand words. Works over 7000 words are a tougher sell, but will be considered. All submissions must be through the online story submission form. See the submission guidelines for details and the current link."
PHOTOS/ART: "No photos or art are currently purchased."
HINTS: "Learn what passive sentences are and how not to write them. Show rather than tell what is happening in the story. Find your typos and fix them. Read previously published stories on the blog to make sure you have a feel for the style of stories accepted, and to make sure you are not repeating a story theme or plot."
