On the 4th of July, we joined our children (except Matt and his wife, Sarah, who are in Maine…sniff!) at our daughter’s house for a holiday BBQ. They’d gotten up every hour, all night long, to add more water and wood chips to the smoker. And, let me tell ya, it was worth it…for the rest of us anyway. It was delicious! They also smoked four beer can chickens and all that meat disappeared mighty quick! We were all snitching bites off the platter before the dinner bell had rang.
After a day of swimming and eating, we headed back to our new place in St. Pete to watch the fireworks from the roof. From 19th stories up, we had a clear view of everything to the East and South and we could see a total of 16 fireworks displays from up there! It was a beautiful evening.
This weekend, we’ll be sitting in the air-conditioning (aaahhh…) because start-time for the Summer, 2016 24-Hour Short Story Contest is THIS SATURDAY! It’s your last chance to sign up.
