THIS ARTICLE WAS PUBLISHED IN 2019 BUT THE TREND CONTINUES!
I watched countless relative open gifts over Christmas. Not one of them received a Kindle, or any other dedicated ebook reading device. Furthermore, I don’t know of any family member who has bought an ebook reading device over not only the past year, but the past several years.
Last week, we published information on how ebook sales continue to dive. This is good news for our kids…who spend far too much time on electronics. Mason (age 13) received seven print books for Christmas. Two of them are on acting for kids. He loved being in the Christmas musical so much that he’s auditioning for a local production of Annie in two weeks. Last night, he watched the movie for the first time. He became very annoyed when he realized I knew all of the songs by heart from the years I was in choir when a teenager. Ha ha ha.
In other news, I’m sick. It’s not the flu because there’s no fever. Just your standard head cold. And, almost everyone else in the family is sick, too, including our grandbabies (in fact, one of them started it). We’re dropping like flies. I was doing better earlier in the week. But, we had family in town, and numerous get-togethers and dinners planned, and I spent more time running all over than resting. And, now I’m paying the price.
The worst part about me being sick is I get very cranky. I can’t seem to help it. Being uncomfortable, whether it’s from a sore throat or simply stubbing my toe, just makes me so darned mad! And, I don’t like to be cranky so that makes me even more mad! So, I’m trying to keep my mouth shut, and muscle through it without whining too loudly. I am very happy to back on board No Tan Lines, and sleeping in my own bed.

WritersWeekly.com - the free marketing ezine for writers, which features new paying markets and freelance job listings every Wednesday.
BookLocker.com - According to attorney Mark Levine, author of The Fine Print, BookLocker is: "As close to perfection as you're going to find in the world of ebook and POD publishing. The ebook royalties are the highest I've ever seen, and the print royalties are better than average. BookLocker understands what new authors experience, and have put together a package that is the best in the business. You can't go wrong here. Plus, they're selective and won't publish any manuscript just because it's accompanied by a check. Also, the web site is well trafficked. If you can find a POD or epublisher with as much integrity and dedication to selling authors' books, but with lower POD publishing fees, please let me know."
Abuzz Press offers FAST and FREE book publication, but only accepts a small percentage of submissions, and only works with U.S. authors.
PubPreppers.com - "We Prep, You Publish!" Print and ebook design for authors who truly want to self-publish. Offers formatting and design services only, and then provides simple instructions for authors on where to sign up to have the print and ebook editions printed/listed/sold. Cut out the middle man. Keep 100% of what bookstores pay for your book!

The Art and Craft of Writing and Editing
Writing is a constant dialogue between author and reader.
The craft of writing involves an interchange of emotions between an author and a reader. An author creates a story line, conflict, and characters, gives his characters words to speak, and then hands off these materials to a reader. This process results in a constant dialogue between the mental imagery produced by a reader and that proposed by the author.

That is so exciting that Mason is auditioning for Annie. Sorry you’re down and out with a cold. Colds can really sap your energy AND make you cranky. A simple head cold only seems simple until you have it yourself. They truly do suck. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
get well. get rested. stay rested
you do NOT want the flu and they say it will be bad this year.
