Homeschooled Kids Don’t Get Sick Often, Unless…

Max and Mason, who are homeschooled, joined a new homeschooling co-op. Over the past few years, they’ve only attended museum classes every other Wednesday, and only during the afternoon on those days. This new co-op meets all day long every Wednesday, and includes five different classes and a lunch.

I warned the boys and Richard that they’d be exposed to lots more kiddos with cold and flu symptoms and that we’d all catch more germies this year.

Sure enough, only a few days after their second class, Mason came down with a head cold. Our new healthcare provider is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine. (After many bad experiences, we have little faith in conventional medicine now.) Our new doc treats with herbal medicines, and he recently provided relief from a stomach virus and a very bad ear infection within just four hours. Last week, he came by (yes, he makes house calls!) and left some herbal medicine with Mason, who then completely recovered in only three days! Max then came down with it and, taking the same herbal medicine, was sick for only two days.

Then, it was my turn. Despite all of us increasing our Vitamin C and D intake as a precaution, I’m sneezing and wheezing, and considering buying stock in Kleenex. This afternoon, the coughing began. I’m much sicker than the boys were but I just started taking the herbal meds this afternoon. I should have started them yesterday. I’ve only been sick for about a day and a half so I’m hoping mine will be of very short duration as well.

Needless to say, this week’s issue might be a bit abbreviated because the wheezing is so bad that I can’t stop blinking at the computer screen. Also, blowing your nose at the same time you’re typing is impossible. Yes, I tried it.

If you live in the greater Tampa to Sarasota area, and want the contact info. for our doc, let me know. He’s awesome! I wish we’d known about him years ago!

We have lost faith in conventional medicine as well, not after a tragedy, but after doing some homework! Glad you guys are getting better!
May the germies (I’m actually surprised at how many people use this phrase, us included lol) stay at bay!
    😀

I didn’t see space for comments on your article that regards why you’ve been in business for 17 years. I can tell you in two words: Integrity. Honesty.
