POOL’S OPEN!

It’s in the upper 80’s now and the boys are once again swimming every single day. The weather outside is warm but I think the water is still a bit chilly. What do you think?

Heh…

We spent last weekend on Anna Maria Island. We did the annual home tour, which benefitted charity, and was a lot of fun. I was looking for decorating ideas for the new house. While our home in Maine had antiques and dark wood floors, the new house in Florida has white tile and is open and airy, overlooking a sparking blue pool and a salt water canal…which we’re told has great fishing since it’s so close to the open bay. I’m leaning toward whites and off-whites with a sea glass theme for color (varying shades of ocean blues). Yes, I know that having sea glass in a house with two rambunctious boys may be a bit of a challenge. I will have to make sure Richard reinforces anything we hang on the walls with extra LARGE, thick screws.

While we were there, we went to eat at one of the restaurants where Ali works (she’s the pastry chef at two, owned by the same people). We ordered lots of goodies and they kept bringing out more and more things for us to try. Just as we were about to explode, the manager came by and said our entire meal was on the house. Wow!! We told Ali, “They sure must love you here!!!” It was pretty clear they do. Other employees came by to meet us and talk to Ali and the waiter even asked Ali out while we were eating. I don’t think he knew she has a boyfriend. He was also pointing her out to other guests while they were ordering desserts. I felt like we were sitting next to Rachel Ray! It was awesome and we were so proud!! Last year, she cooked for the Obamas (once) and Martha Stewart (twice). For dessert that night, we had Ali’s Key Lime Cheesecake, which is whipped so it’s light and fluffy, and is covered with toasted marshmallows.

We also had her Ginger and Apple Crisp, which is their best seller.

Are you hungry yet? Me, too! 😉

This week’s Masonism:

“I like green beans because they taste like water.”

Big hugs to all,
