KUDOS TO: You and Me – American’s Medical Magazine!

Hi Angela

Rarely do I write about an experience with a publisher because, to be honest, it’s usually not all that interesting. I saw one listed in your newsletter that I want to comment on.

You and Me-American’s Medical Magazine was the best, hands down, experience I’ve ever had with any magazine publisher. My book publisher, AWOCBooks, sent me an email suggesting I submit to You and Me. I submitted my idea for my own true story. They responded, sent me a check and put it in the magazine within THREE WEEKS! The person I dealt with was professional, honest and personable. I can’t say enough about You and Me magazine. I only hope I can have good fortune like this with future magazine publishers.

Oh, by the way, mine is the feature story right now: The Decision. (Just a bit of shameless self-promotion there.)

When POD Pubs Confuse Authors Regarding “Distribution”

Hi Angela,

I just wanted to add a note with regard to distribution. I think a lot of people are also led to believe their books will be in bookstores and that’s not the case with most basic packages especially.

Many of the descriptions say something like “your book will be available to thousands of bookstores”. The key word there is available, not “will be ordered or stocked by.” Availability generally means readers can walk into a store and special order, but actually having a rep sell your books to managers and book buyers is a whole other thing.

I know there are many authors who really do try to do their homework in choosing their publishing path. Unfortunately, not all companies play nice with others, don’t give all the info needed and that’s where so much disappointment comes in.

Keep up the good work!

Good Writing & God Bless,

P.S. BTW, in case you didn’t know, the author/book you have featured in the excerpts this week (Dave) found BookLocker through my blog when I was posting about the Amazon situation. He has had nothing but glowing things to say about his experience with you. Glad it was such a good match.
