My publisher wants to charge me extra to register my copyright and to obtain a Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN). Aren’t those free?

There are times when writers have the need to try something different, and in a sense, to reinvent themselves when it comes to the type of work they do. I’ve written for a variety of magazines, newspapers, and web sites over the years, which has brought me a great deal of satisfaction.
