Each year, Ali and I make goodies to take to the neighbors. The rum balls I make, which are a recipe I received from a fellow BookLocker author, are always a huge hit. I’m burned out on peppermint bark and tiny pretzels swimming in caramel and chocolate.

The other day, I came home and tried on a choker necklace I’d purchased that afternoon while shopping with a friend.
I turned to Mason, and said, “What do you think? Do you like it?”
He flatly replied, “Yes. You look like a dog.”
