The weekend was absolutely gorgeous here and we spent several hours lounging in the sun while watching the river lazily slip by. Well, the children and I lounged. Richard did some work on the RV and bought supplies to fix the fence where it shifted during the winter due to frost heave.

Unfortunately, there has been a huge increase in the number of websites for writers that automatically re-charge your credit card for everything from a subscription, to a job bidding/finding service, and more. If you don’t read the fine print, you may find yourself paying, over and over again, sometimes even on a monthly basis, for something you don’t want.

I always, always, always enjoy each edition of Writer’s Weekly. In fact, I’ve successfully published several articles thanks to your “Paying Markets”. My question now is this…how do I get an interview request posted? Is there a fee? What is the process?

I’ve read about authors selling their books on eBay over the years. However, I was naturally skeptical. With all the books available on that site, what are the chances a buyer will find your book and buy it? Under which category do you post it? How does it work? How much does eBay charge? How could you possibly make a profit from doing this?

Max enjoyed helping me plant seeds for leeks, onions, two different kinds of sugar peas, green beans, tomatoes, hot peppers, and much more. I’m wondering if the garden is even big enough for the ambitious plans we have for this year!

In the future, when negotiating the price and terms with a “pays on publication” publisher, estimate the date when the payment would be due if it were published on schedule. Then, include a clause in your email agreement or contract …

I just got this from an editor about whether she “pays” or not. I’ve never read anything like it, it’s just too hilarious:
Dear Roy, Unfortunately, the only monetary exchange that comes out of our publication is me paying our host to provide us the server. I wish I could pay! If you live close by, I can let you play with our puppy, she is really adorable, but other than that, just for the love of the game….
