Winter, Spring, Winter, Spring… Make Up Your Mind, Will Ya?

Last week, the heater in our house was running non-stop. Yesterday and today, Max and Mason were swimming in our pool. No, it’s not heated. On Thursday, it’s only going to be in the 60’s. Sure beats a blizzard!!

Last weekend, the kids were fishing out back and Mason’s friend, Karen, caught a HUGE hardhead (saltwater catfish). It swallowed the hook and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the catch. The kids were sad for a moment but then Big Blue, our resident Blue Heron, showed up and walked right up to us. He was begging for that Hardhead! Max picked it up by the tail and Big Blue took it from him and proceeded to chow down. The kids still felt bad about the fish dying (we practice catch and release on anything we don’t plan to cook and eat same-day) but, after Big Blue got his fill, we had a talk about the circle of life and the food chain and they felt good knowing that Big Blue would have a full belly that night at bedtime. 🙂

This week’s Masonism:

Last weekend, when it was chilly outside, I was working on the sofa and Mason walked into the room with a soft blanket. He sat down next to me, and squished himself into my side, putting his head on my arm.

I kissed the top of his head, and asked, “Are you cold, Honey?

He replied, “No, I’m warm and cuddlish now.”
