Often, people ask what advice I would give to writers hoping to break into the industry and my answer is always the same: don’t stop trying. Never stop trying.
Most people can not write.
Most of those who can write can not write well.
Most of those who can write well have nothing to say.
Most of us have no interest in what those writers who do have to say.

I had no idea that, when I crafted these family heirloom books, I would soon be earning a decent return for my time and a stream of cash flow for doing something I love to do anyway. It all started when my mom shared her new biography with her neighbor in Florida.
Amazon says they won’t list my book as available until they see “demand” for it but, if it’s not even “available” on Amazon, how can they see any “demand” for it? What can I do?

If I was truly honest, and told them to give up the craft, or to go to back to school (some of these folks literally need to start all over at the Kindergarten level), I would be harassed for eternity. Most people simply can’t accept or comprehend the truth and, no matter how reasonable or gentle your message to them is, they will never believe it and they will hate you for delivering it. They may even try to destroy your reputation online through libelous, anonymous posts.
It’s been two weeks since our son’s wedding and, finally, after several days and nights of fingers-glued-to-the-keyboard, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
When corresponding with writers, most editors only accept electronic communications now.
