Screenplay vs. Novel?

Angela,

I have a screenplay I wrote a few years ago that may have some market value. Do you have a position one way or another on publishing screenplays?

At BookLocker.com, we have published a few screenplays but they don’t tend to sell very well. Most casual readers don’t want to read stories in that format and it seems few playhouses are looking for new screenplays to purchase.

There’s a far bigger market for novels than there is for screenplays. If it were my story, I’d publish it as a novel, and add a marketing page to the book noting that, under certain circumstances, the author may make the story available as a screenplay.
