My Publisher Disappeared but Amazon is Still Selling My Book!

My publisher, who placed my book on the Kindle, has disappeared. He previously obtained my royalties and forwarded them to me. I have been unable to contact him or anyone at Amazon so that arrangements can be made for me to deal directly with Amazon.

When Amazon has a contract with one firm, they can’t and won’t turn the property of that firm (account/book/royalties/etc.) over to another. You would need to republish the book elsewhere, and submit it directly to Amazon.

One way to get Amazon to remove a book from the market is to let them know there is a copyright dispute with the book. If that publisher no longer has your permission to sell your book, you can demand Amazon stop selling. Amazon’s procedures for filling a claim of copyright infringement are HERE.
