How do I go about booking interviews with radio and tv stations and newspapers? How do I ask them in essence, “Hi, I just published a book. Would you like to interview me?”
To approach those who conduct and broadcast/publish interviews, you need to create a press kit (electronic or in print) that features a pitch letter, a graphic of your book, info. about your book, and your bio. Each pitch letter should be specific to each interview you’re trying to land. They’ll be looking for local or current events interest, so you’ll need to tie your pitch to their specific market or to events that are in the news (that they’re covering) right now. Making your interview locally-focused and/or timely (with regards to current events) is the most successful way to land interviews.
