If I’m writing under a pseudonym, can I call myself a doctor or a lawyer in my book (i.e. John Doe, PhD) even if it’s meant to be humorous?
Not everyone will see this as a joke so it could be construed as fraud. Also, calling yourself a doctor, a lawyer, or even a police office may be illegal (practicing medicine/law without a license, impersonating a police officer, etc.) even if it’s used in humor. I would definitely NOT recommend misrepresenting yourself in this way. The laughs won’t last long if you find yourself dragged into a courtroom.
