Complaints About Lulu Are Spilling Onto Lulu’s Own Twitter Page

We’ve previously covered the numerous complaints posted about Lulu.com to their own forums by their own authors. The complaints are about customer service, quality, costs, and much more, including the fact that it’s difficult for authors to get a response out of them.

But, savvy Lulu authors have figured out how to bypass regular email. They’re posting complaints directly to Lulu’s Twitter account. Here are a few snippets posted just in the past two weeks. There are many more!

– Choosing LULU to publish my very first book has been the WORST business decision I have made in my 10 years of business!

– First time using @luludotcom and very soon will be my last – have waited for an answer to the mess they printed for me and nothing!!

– Once again @Luludotcom disappoints Promised a week ago i’d have revenue/sales update by 8/7 #emptypromises #lies

– live chat is down. I need some help with a cover upload

– Trying to use @Luludotcom but it’s proving to be too difficult. Help?

– FYI, the PDF I downloaded from @Luludotcom has no cover.

– every time I try to save I get “There was an error saving your pricing information.

– Told to wait a week for problem to be resolved…

– well…it has been 3 1/2 hours and still no answer My Revenue. It hasn’t updated for print since 7/25

– lulu is not accepting my British post code.

– Main prob my designer creates the size required but the website still says its the wrong size – And can’t spk to a lulu human

– Actually share your sales data with a publisher/partner? I have no idea how many books have sold in first week.

– I emailed to cancel immediately after I placed order, but it took days for a response. Response said I needed to cancel within one hour (which is what I did). And no help. Now I have to buy another book on top of the one I didn’t want for the same full cost.

– wishing someone would actually look into my email (from a chat help session re: incorrect revenue posting #tired #frustrated

– I’m about 99.9% convinced I’ll never use @luludotcom again.

About The Author

AngelaPortrait72dpismall_400x400

Angela Hoy is the publisher of WritersWeekly.com, the author of 19 books, and the co-owner of BookLocker.com (one of the original POD publishers that still gets books to market in less than a month), PubPreppers.com (print and ebook design for authors who truly want to self-publish), and Abuzz Press (the publishing co-op that charges no setup fees).

Angela has lived and traveled across the U.S. with her kids in an RV, settled in a river-side home in Bradenton, FL, and lived on a 52 ft Irwin sailboat. Angela now resides on a mountaintop in Northwest Georgia, where she plans to spend the rest of her days bird watching, gardening, hiking, and taking in all of the amazing sunrises.

WritersWeekly.com - the free marketing ezine for writers, which features new paying markets and freelance job listings every Wednesday.

BookLocker.com - According to attorney Mark Levine, author of The Fine Print, BookLocker is: "As close to perfection as you're going to find in the world of ebook and POD publishing. The ebook royalties are the highest I've ever seen, and the print royalties are better than average. BookLocker understands what new authors experience, and have put together a package that is the best in the business. You can't go wrong here. Plus, they're selective and won't publish any manuscript just because it's accompanied by a check. Also, the web site is well trafficked. If you can find a POD or epublisher with as much integrity and dedication to selling authors' books, but with lower POD publishing fees, please let me know."

Abuzz Press offers FAST and FREE book publication, but only accepts a small percentage of submissions, and only works with U.S. authors.

PubPreppers.com - "We Prep, You Publish!" Print and ebook design for authors who truly want to self-publish. Offers formatting and design services only, and then provides simple instructions for authors on where to sign up to have the print and ebook editions printed/listed/sold. Cut out the middle man. Keep 100% of what bookstores pay for your book!

Angela's POD Secrets Revealed Series can be found HERE.
