Book Contests – Good Idea or Not?

Print Friendly

I received an email from (an online book contest). It is for recognition. Is this kind of thing normal? The entry fee is $50 at this time.

I reviewed the link you sent to me. First, this so-called contest organizer spammed you. I don’t recommend doing any business with spammers at all. They claim they will promote your book if you win yet they must resort to spam to promote themselves? Stay away from firms like that.

Second, contests that costs more than a few dollars are usually a cash-cow for the organizers and a money pit for entrants. In my opinion, paying $50 for the remote chance that you might get to put a symbol on your book saying it won an award from some completely unknown website is a waste of money.
