EPISODE 10: How a Single Mom Built a Successful Publishing Company…With Many Personal and Professional Challenges Along the Way!

LISTEN: Apple | Spotify | iHeart | YouTube | More Episodes!

In our 10th episode, Angela Hoy tells us the interesting circumstances that led to the creation of WritersWeekly.com, how she later created a successful book publishing business, and about the oftentimes stressful (but sometimes funny) personal and professional struggles she had along the way.

We learn how WritersWeekly.com went from being a side hobby to make a little extra money, to a means of survival during hard times, to a proven marketing tool, as well as a FREE source of help for writers and authors everywhere!

Did you know that BookLocker.com started out as a small, ebook-only online bookstore that Angela acquired after one of her ebooks instantly became that website’s #1 best seller? BookLocker.com has since published more than 16K print and electronic titles! Hear how the company grew, and listen to the challenges of running an online business while traveling across America in an RV for years.

Angela has endured dire financial times, sleepless nights, corporate bullies, stressful legal battles, and even threats against her family and life! And, she raised five kids (and then some) throughout it all. This is truly an amazing story of endurance, courage, and a strong will to succeed.

And, as always, we’d love to hear your comments and ideas!

Great podcast! Angela’s fantastic story of tenacity, endurance, and innovation was awesome.

I first heard about Angela when she put out her first booklet, about making money publishing online. I bought it, got on her list, and was a fan (and still am a fan ). Her early book on writing and marketing email newsletters fueled my own online freelance web content and editing career. I followed her faithfully until just after Max was born, and life drew me away for awhile, but I periodically checked back in and became a big BookLocker cheerleader (even led my brother to publishing through them). I lost track the last couple years but was so happy to find your new podcasts so I can keep in the loop again. Good for you, Angela! Keep on keeping on! (And nice to “meet” you, Brian!)

AND she defeated the Goliath of modern times, Amazon!!
She’s a bit of an Amazonian herself — a fearless warrior.

Many thanks for all you’ve done, Angela.
