Want to work up a history on the old Army fort on the edge of your town? Perhaps you are just trying to find out what Grandpa did during World War II. All of this has become much, much easier today, thanks to the many resources now available online to the writer willing to spend a little time in research.

My publisher, who placed my book on the Kindle, has disappeared. He previously obtained my royalties and forwarded them to me. I have been unable to contact him or anyone at Amazon so that arrangements can be made for me to deal directly with Amazon.

When former colleagues, friends or family members asked what I was doing since I left my “real job,” I struggled to say “I’m a writer” or a journalist or even a freelancer. It felt premature to call myself a writer when I had yet to sell a single word. And even after I’d published several articles in regional magazines, the title of writer felt fraudulent – it’s not like I’d penned a bestseller.

Tumblr – Sued by adult publisher for (allegedly) “knowingly allowing its users to post and reblog content from (the publisher).”
Google – Trying to get The Author’s Guild removed from the 6-year-long copyright infringement lawsuit againt Google, which would force authors to sue individually. Doesn’t look like the judge is buyin’ it!
Charles LeBlanc, Canadian blogger – Won’t be charged with criminal libel but still doesn’t have computer back after his arrest and the search of his home. Search/seizure occurred after the blogger published negative comments about police. An independent third party will be reviewing the police department’s actions.

The house we just bought was built in 1969. I love old homes because they have so much character but, when an old house needs some upgrades, that can get pretty expensive…

writing scams
I received an email this week from a writer I’ll call “Susan.”
She needed my advice about a “client” who owed her a few hundred dollars. He hired her last year to write an ebook for him. What mistakes did this writer make to contribute to the scammer’s success?

Angela/Richard/and Staff –
I just want to take a moment and say thank you for all your guidance and fine work while my book, “Adam Reborn: A Family Guide to Surviving a Traumatic Brain Injury,” was in your hands. To those writers out there who may be reading this now, during my son’s accident it was a terrible time. Writing the book was a very difficult time because I was reliving the accident again. (Tied to the whipping post for a second go round.) However, I assure you, dear writers, that if you have any interest in Print on Demand (POD), your time with Booklocker will be a smooth road to travel. For those of us who love the written word, but can be “computer challenged,” Angela and Richard and their team are with you every step of the way.

writing career advice
It’s tempting to put querying aside while you’re working on assignments, and then pick it up again when the work runs out. The problem is that, by then, it’s too late. You end up with a gap in your assignments – and your income.

I have many friends asking me for a signed copy of the book when it is published. As I have thought about this, I need to ask for advice.
Do I order the books and sell them? Do I direct them to a particular bookstore and ask the store to order so many copies?
I want to have a book signing for them as there were many who supported me in this effort and I am not sure of the best course to accomplish this.
Thank you in advance for your input.

When I first started my freelance writing career, I let one of freelance writing’s most lucrative markets escape me because I ignored the potential of the inspirational and religious markets…
