Baby Sneezes...

Max has been nursing a cold and I was terrified Mason would catch it. After our ordeal with Mason's hospitalization when he was 12 days old, I was absolutely thrilled when, at his 2-month checkup last week, the doctor said these 6 magic words, "You have a perfectly healthy baby!"

Thank God!!!

The very next morning, Mason woke up with Max's cold!! I know all you parents know how it is to stay awake at night, watching your infant struggle to breathe through a stuffy nose while trying to sleep. It's heart wrenching and you end up holding your breath when they're not breathing, and then touching them to remind them to breathe when you think they've gone long enough without a breath. Well, perhaps you're not as paranoid as I...

Anyway, Richard got up at 2:00 a.m. to go to the 24-hour pharmacy for a nose syringe (a.k.a. "bugger bulb", a.k.a. "snot sucker"). However, he quickly discovered our 24-hour pharmacy was no longer open 24 hours! We got by until the other pharmacy opened at 8:00 a.m. Richard picked up the bugger bulb and some infant cold medicine. Needless to say, we were a wee bit droopy that day.

Mason is a trooper and handled it all just fine - much better than we did. However, he's still feelin' stuffy.

This week's Maxism:

Max lost his first baby tooth last Sunday. He was thrilled, to say the least, but later the next morning said, "What does the tooth fairy use teeth for?"

I explained, "She builds her house with them."

He then looked embarrassed and said, "I hope she didn't see the blood on mine..."

I smiled and said, "She cleans them all really good. All teeth have blood on them when they first come out."

He then said, "What if I want my tooth back?"
