We had a FANTASTIC 4th of July celebration on Sunday! Our good friends Mark and Corey came to visit with their niece, Lauryn. Mark LaFlamme is an award winning crime reporter and columnist at the Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine, and is also the author of The Pink Room, Dirt: An American Campaign, Vegetation and Asterisk: Red Sox 2086.
Max and Mason ADORE Lauryn and they talked non-stop about her impending visit all week long. To celebrate, we bought the boys a new kiddie pool with an inflatable slide attached to it. Frank inflated it Sunday morning and then Max started filling it up. When our guests arrived, the kids all raced to the pool and jumped in. Max and Lauryn were sliding over and over again while Mason played with his trains in the water.
We’d also bought a small bubble-making machine so I filled that up and turned it on outside. While the adults sat in the air-conditioned RV (Mark said he felt like we had air conditioning outside) so we could supervise the fun, the kids were outside combining the kiddie pool and the large bottle of bubble soap. They were very proud of their new invention – an outside, inflatable bubble bath. Needless to say, they were squeaky clean by the time we left for the fireworks!
We had so many burgers, hot dogs, brats (the sausage, not naughty children), and more that we are going to have leftovers for DAYS.

Frank’s girlfriend got her braces off last week and, much to Frank’s chagrin, Max said, “Your teeth are so shiny! All the boys at school are gonna look at you!!”
