My Poor Muse Was Bound and Gagged for Two Months…But, Now She’s FREE!

My Poor Muse Was Bound and Gagged for Two Months…But, Now She’s FREE!

Less than two months ago, we made the difficult decision to sell our house. We then found a realtor, put the house up for sale, survived 26 showings (I’ve never cleaned so much in my life!), received 2 offers (the first one fell through), looked for (and found) a new place to live in St. Petersburg, participated in grueling negotiations with the buyers, prepared for the inspections and appraisal, did all our packing (the garage was a bear!), lugged 14 truckloads of stuff to Goodwill (no kidding!), endured the closing, moving (huge ug!), and a tropical storm, and also entertained an influx of relatives for our son’s wedding. Also, during that last month, we had a record number of new sign-ups at BookLocker.com. (That last one was a positive problem!)

During that entire period, I could NOT seem to get caught up on my work. Rather, I seemed to just keep getting further and further behind. I don’t know about you but, when I have 200+ unanswered emails, a virtual stack of books to format yesterday, and a weekly issue to write, edit, get online, and notify thousands of writers about, I get extremely stressed. And, the further behind I got, the more stressed I became. WritersWeekly started going out later and later in the week, which REALLY bothered me. Add all of that to the stress from everything else and I was starting to turn into a boiling mess.

Well, it’s been two weeks since our son’s wedding and, finally, after several days and nights of fingers-glued-to-the-keyboard, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Perhaps the worst thing about all of this was that I didn’t touch my current book manuscript for those entire two months. That was driving me NUTS! My muse was in time-out for that entire time and she was NOT happy about that!

This week, she was released from her shackles and she is spitting out words faster than I can type! She’s calling me to play once again right now so I have to scoot. 😉

THIS WEEK’S MASONISM:

“Mom, you’re an expert at embarrassing everyone.”

Glad to know your muse has been let back out onto the playground! I loved the Masonism! That’s one of his best! He seems to be a Mark Twain in the making.
