BookLocker is Now Offering “D.I.Y.” and “Payment Plan” Publishing Programs! – Angela Hoy

As prices go up across the board, and as unemployment continues, many authors would like to get their books on the market but simply can’t afford it.

While firms like Author Solutions (owner of AuthorHouse, Xlibris, iUniverse, Trafford and more) are squeezing authors out of thousands to tens of thousands of dollars (which we’re betting most authors will never recover in resulting book sales), BookLocker is going in the opposite direction – publishing packages for any budget.

D.I.Y. – DO IT YOURSELF (No setup/formatting fees)
By popular demand, we have launched a no-setup-fee D.I.Y. Publishing Program where authors can submit pre-formatted PDF files and pay no setup fees. There are two items authors must pay for, however:
1. Print galley / print proof – $35 (The first printed copy of your book, which you must approve.)
2. Annual POD file hosting fee – $18 (This fee keeps the book in Ingram’s distribution system, and on BookLocker.com.)

PAYMENT PLAN PROGRAM (Fees deducted from future royalties – U.S. Residents Only)
As the economy continues to waver, an increasing number of authors have asked about payment plans. We’re not really interested in checking credit reports, dabbling in interest rates, and billing authors monthly so we have launched a “Payment Plan Program” that requires no credit check. We simply deduct the setup and design fees from future royalties. This program, too, requires out-of-pocket payment for the print proof and first year annual POD file hosting fee (see above). Unfortunately, we can only offer the Payment Plan Program to U.S. residents.

AT-YOUR-SERVICE PROGRAM
Of course, our popular At-Your-Service program is still available at the same rate we’ve charged for years – $517. (Yes, that includes original cover design.)

EXPEDITED PROGRAM
Two-week turnaround at a price that’s still lower than most of the regular programs offered by the “other guys.”

TURN-AROUND
We format manuscripts in the order they are received and our normal turnaround is still around a month (two weeks if using the Expedited program).

WHO OWNS THE FILES?
Authors own all rights to their production files.

DISTRIBUTION
BookLocker’s print books are listed on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, BooksaMillion.com and many other smaller, online bookstores, both domestic and foreign. Any bookstore with an Ingram account can pick up Ingram’s feed, so you’ll find your book listed in stores you’ve never heard of.

Most bookstores use Ingram’s database to find and order books, so bookstore customers can ask their neighborhood bookstore to order your book as well. Your book will, of course, also be in Bowker’s database.

Angela Hoy is the co-owner of WritersWeekly.com and BookLocker.com. WritersWeekly.com is the free marketing ezine for writers, which features new paying markets and freelance job listings every Wednesday. According to attorney Mark Levine, author of The Fine Print, BookLocker.com is: “As close to perfection as you’re going to find in the world of ebook and POD publishing. The ebook royalties are the highest I’ve ever seen, and the print royalties are better than average. BookLocker understands what new authors experience, and have put together a package that is the best in the business. You can’t go wrong here. Plus, they’re selective and won’t publish any manuscript just because it’s accompanied by a check. Also, the web site is well trafficked. If you can find a POD or epublisher with as much integrity and dedication to selling authors’ books, but with lower POD publishing fees, please let me know.”
