deadbeat publications
I was writing for a publication and they stole my articles and kept them. I have an invoice that I sent over and over again but no response. He was paying me and we had a verbal and written contract. What rights do I have and what should I do? Thanks for any help appreciated.

Six months after our initial conversation, I finally got a “complimentary” copy of the book in my hands, and couldn’t wait to curl up with it and a good cup of herbal tea. When I opened the book and started to skim through it, my heart sank. Though the stories were interesting, diverse and truly moving, what captured my attention was not the quality of the essays, but the shabby presentation.

Allan Lynch’s suggestion regarding contracts is absolutely correct. A paper trail showing those elements is all that’s needed to enforce a contract.
