Bad Dentist!

Two weeks ago, we took Mason to the dentist because he had a toothache. The dentist suspected a cracked filling so he replaced it. After the dentist finished the filling, he noticed the tooth was loose…

Books That NOBODY Should Publish

I had never had reason to return a Kindle book until I made the HUGE mistake of ordering two “best sellers” from a writer. The summary sounded somewhat interesting so I thought I’d see what a “best seller” was since I’d not heard from this author before. What a disaster…

Why Hasn’t Amazon Removed My Out-of-Print Book?

Why Hasn’t Amazon Removed My Out-of-Print Book?

I decided to pull my book off the market a few months ago, rename it, and republish it elsewhere (I was not happy with my previous P.O.D. publisher). My previous publisher said they removed the book but it’s still on Amazon. How can I make them remove it? I don’t want the old version competing with the new.

Worried About Something? Get Writing! – Connie Jeske Crane

We often think our fears and neuroses hold us back as writers. We talk in terms of worries weighing us down, and fears needing to be wrestled with. Yet in the last few years, I’ve started to see that stuff that keeps you up at night as something else too: great subject matter…

Matt is Safe!

Many of you know Matt, who came to live with us when he was 15. We have claimed him as our son since that day and he who worked for us for many years before he got his Master’s degree, and then his dream job as an actuary. He now lives near Boston and works in Boston. When we heard about the bombing on Monday, I immediately called him. No answer. I texted him. No answer. I checked his Facebook page and there was a picture of him AT the race! I panicked!! I posted a note to his Facebook page begging for him to respond and I then called, texted, and Facebooked his girlfriend. too. A few minutes later, Matt was able to text us that they were okay. Thank Heaven!!! I rejoiced but then immediately felt guilty because so many others were hurt and killed.
Later that evening, I had to turn off the TV. I kept getting tears in my eyes and I just couldn’t take the scenes anymore. It’s horrible, just horrible, and I can’t make sense of it at all.
Big healing hugs to all,
Angela

Why Must Americans Pay More Than Others for American Books?

Several people sent me the link to THIS ARTICLE by Scott Turow, president of the Authors Guild.
The article criticizes the recent Supreme Court decision to allow foreign editions of books to be purchased and shipped here. The way the article is written made some believe he was referring to illegal copies of books (pirated editions). He wrote “since they will be sold in a secondary market, authors won’t get royalties”…

Books That NOBODY Should Publish

Hi Ang,
I don’t KNOW why some sleezy publishers print horrible books, but I certainly have a strong suspicion. Judging from some of the trash I’ve seen published by “other” P.O.D. companies, they must not even read the books they print. I say this because many of them look like they’ve been edited by a first grader.
I realize P.O.D. authors are responsible for their own editing, but I know BookLocker would NEVER agree to publish some of the junk that I see coming from your competitors. I’m glad you maintain your high standards, Ang. It benefits all of us who choose to go with the best.

Confused About “Likes” vs. “Friends” on Facebook

Confused About “Likes” vs. “Friends” on Facebook

The confusing thing for me about Facebook ‘likes’ is that Forbes prefers us to encourage ‘friends’, which can be done with my personal FB page. I created a writer page (a business one), but it just feels redundant….so I’m still not sure what the importance of it is.

Write More Using Your Kitchen Timer! By Doris J. Niemann

As a published writer, I am not getting out the word (so to speak) on a steady lucrative basis like I should. I still have difficulty making time to sit down each day and write. I found that concentrating on writing without losing interest in content, clarity and descriptive phrases was not as easy as I thought…
