The Secret Angst of Book Promotion – Susan Sundwall

In my last piece for WritersWeekly, Blabbermouth Your Book, I focused on getting the word out by seizing the moment, wherever you are, in order to do so. But as I become engulfed in the process I’m finding more things to stress about than I ever suspected existed. I had a good time writing the book and I love the idea of being a published author. But nobody told me about situations that would cause hair pulling, brow furrowing and night sweats…

Christmas Shopping!

I am feeling much better since my surgery. My hemoglobin is creeping upward so my energy level is higher as well. I felt so good last weekend, in fact, that I started my Christmas shopping! It didn’t take too much energy, though, since I was only doing it online. Heh… It was the best Sunday I’ve had in a long time. I sat in bed all day, shopping, watching movies, and also working on a gift I’m making for my mom. This advertising and editorial balance is the same whether the publication is a glitzy glossy with a one hundred year history, or a start-up digital. Advertising and sponsorships are what keep us all in business…

Who Owns My Cover Design?

My book was published by (one of the largest POD publishers) and I am not happy with their service or prices. They designed my cover but I want to move my book to BookLocker. Can you use the cover they designed? Can they sue me for leaving?

Recovering

Last week, I shared the story of my surgery last week. I am very tired but feeling better. My hemoglobin level is still quite low, which explains the fatigue. I admit I’m getting very weary of phone calls from doctors offices that have bad news instead of good. 🙁
