Writing to Help Others, Not to Make Money

I am adamantly against donating your time and writing to companies that seek to profit from your efforts while not sharing cash with you. However, if you are managing the distribution of your free work and it’s for a good cause (and nobody’s greedily profiting from your free work), then that’s an entirely different scenario.

Alex Haley paid Harold Courlander a six-figure sum for having purloined Mr. Courlander

  • Contractor’s Weekly – Writer claims recieved payment “three years later”
  • Loving Pets Magazine / lovingpetsmagazine.com – Writer claims received payment eight days after posting to WritersWeekly.com.
  • Equine Journal – Publisher responds to writer’s allegations; accuses writer of plagiarism. Writer denies accusation, offers to share article to prove her claim.
